As a business person, especially entrepreneurs, you are constantly going. The stress that you may feel at work will often carry over into your daily activities and tasks. This can result in poor rest, which is never good for your mental health or productivity! Here are a few simple ways to find time or improve your rest:
- Take a day off. By this I don’t mean take a day off, spend it at home, and constantly check email and take phone calls. Take a day off and actually take it off. Unplug for a minute and let your self recharge. Disconnect from email, don’t take phone calls, just focus on you.
- Avoid distractions. When you are trying to rest or sleep avoid annoying distractions, no matter how small or large. This mainly includes your phone. Just turn it off and get a good nights sleep. If you decide you’re going to bed early to catch up follow through, turn everything off, and enjoy a good sleep.
- Meditation. If you find that you can never clear your mind of worry and distractions, try meditating. Take ten minutes out in the morning to do literally nothing. Just focus on your breathing and clear your head for the upcoming day. You might be surprised at how much better you feel. Here are a couple tips on meditating for busy beginners.
- Regular vacations. I don’t mean every three months you have to take a two week vacation. Instead, regularly take at least two at a time completely off. Your body needs the time away to rejuvenate, and your mind needs it to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Making time for yourself is so important, and getting proper rest will positively influence so many different aspects of your life. Take the time out to recharge!
